Biography
Katrina Webster is a music composer, songwriter and performer specialising in music for film, television, advertising, and documentaries.
With a background in classical piano training, her work is shaped by years of composition, songwriting, and live performance. Raised in a musical household, she started out learning the piano at the age of seven, quickly falling in love with the instrument's warm, expressive sound.
Drawing from an extensive foundation in musicianship—across piano, guitar, bass, and vocals—her work is driven by exploration and genre versatility, enabling her to adapt seamlessly to diverse creative briefs and musical environments, with a performance-led sensibility towards every project. Through years of dedicated study—including completing ABRSM and Trinity examinations up to Grade 8—she built a solid classical and improvisational foundation that continues to shape her approach today. Katrina’s practice spans ethereal sound design, studio session work, and narrative-driven scoring; With a long-standing passion for visual art, she has approached music as an extension of visual storytelling.
As her musicianship evolved, songwriting became a central creative outlet, resulting in hundreds of original works. Fronting a funk band as lead vocalist during college strengthened her stage presence and collaborative instincts, while session work and award-winning live performances further refined her adaptability.
At university, studying BMus (Hons) Composition for Screen, Katrina has immersed herself in film composition, ambient textures and avant-guard sound. She scored a graduate experimental-horror film, multiple documentaries, and reimagined music for iconic scenes from film, television, and games - experiences that unlocked a more experimental and visual dimension in her writing.
Now, Katrina is channeling over 15 years of musical evolution into her debut album — a body of work that weaves together her classical roots, love of storytelling, and passion for genre-crossing production. With a sound that's folk oriented, classical, rhythmic, and intimate, Katrina offers a versatile artistic voice.
